Drum Kits

Drum kits are a combination of different sized drums and cymbals which are arranged around a single person allowing them to play every piece in rapid succession and if not all at once, at least multiple instruments at a time. Other percussive instruments, such as cowbells, chimes, wood blocks, tambourines and triangles can also be attached to the array allowing for a customized set up.

Drum kits typically consist of a bass drum with a kick pedal, a snare drum, a high-hat, one or two tom-toms, a floor tom, a ride cymbal and a crash cymbal. While this is set allows for a wide variety of musical genres to be played most drummers choose to add or remove drums and cymbals, as well as adding other instruments such as a gong, to suit their playing style and musical interest. For example, many heavy metal and punk drummers use two bass drums, or a double bass pedal to create machinegun fast staccato drum beats.

Drum kits range can be found anywhere musical instruments are sold and are often easy to find second hand, though in this case be sure to know exactly what is being purchased. The quickest thing to wear out on every drum is the head which can easily be replaced and re-tuned for a great sounding drum set.
